Have you ever considered what the result might be if Tien and Krillin put aside their differences and faced off? Or considered what a showdown between Majin Vegeta and teenage Gohan, the one who triumphed over Cell, would look like? The Custom Battle mode in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero enables fans to recreate iconic battles and craft their unique dream encounters by selecting from an extensive character roster.

While custom battles are not new to the series, a recent interview with game producer Jun Furutani revealed exciting details about the extensive customization options available for creating personalized cutscenes. The game boasts numerous pre-made poses and a wide array of facial expressions, giving players significant freedom to shape each scene according to their vision. Additionally, players can enhance their cutscenes with scripts and subtitles from the impressive collection of about 5,000 lines, allowing for dynamic storytelling.

Although the Budokai Tenkaichi series has always permitted custom battles, the ability to craft detailed scenes featuring an expansive selection of dialogue and expressive options elevates the concept of fan fiction to new heights of creativity.

Bandai Namco has yet to unveil the complete character roster for Sparking Zero, but it will certainly feature a rich variety of fighters from the complete Dragon Ball universe, encompassing Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, and also the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima, along with Dragon Ball GT.

Sparking Zero marks the first installment in the Budokai Tenkaichi series since the 2007 release of Budokai Tenkaichi 3, making it a highly anticipated title that will launch on October 11 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
