The newest Fortnite collaboration allows players to drive one of the most unconventional cars to ever exist, providing an intriguing twist to the gameplay experience.
The Cybertruck has officially made its debut in Fortnite and will be available in the item shop later today. This means if purchased, any car you enter during a typical online match will transform into a Cybertruck. The real-world electric vehicle from Tesla, known for its 'armor glass' windows that infamously shattered during a 2019 demonstration, is hoping to offer more in-game protection than that incident suggested.
Despite having some die-hard fans, the Cybertruck's design issues extend beyond broken windows. It has faced numerous recalls this year, including a troubling design flaw that could cause the accelerator pedal to become stuck under certain conditions. So, if you spot a Cybertruck lodged in the side of a building during your next match, that might be the reason.
The addition of the Cybertruck to the game was first revealed through a post on the Fortnite X / Twitter account, featuring an animated trailer showing the truck towing multiple other vehicles—a nod to its claimed 11,000-pound towing capacity.
As anticipated, the announcement was met with a slew of mocking comments. One user joked about the truck's real-life uphill struggles, while another questioned its reliability on the road. A viral comment even proposed an "unspoken rule" among players to force Cybertruck users back to the lobby.
If you're still eager to drive the Cybertruck, remember that Fortnite is available as a free-to-play title on PC, PlayStation 5, 4, Xbox Series X, S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Amazon Luna.
